Delicot® Ultra-Thin Neurosurgical Pattie
- Designed for newer microsurgical techniques that utilize a smaller incision and operating site, thereby requiring less retraction on the brain
- Exceptional pliability & flexible maneuvering
- Thinner 0.33 mm pattie and locator string for improved visibility
- Precision cut providing smooth edges, reducing the potential for loose fibers
- Tapered sizes available
Delicot® ultra-thin neurosurgical patties are the only product that was made for delicate microsurgical procedures with a 0.33 mm profile allowing for precise positioning, molding, and superior pliability for instrument support and tissue protection. Delicot® neuro pattie demonstrates the best filterability of fluids via suction and is capable of absorbing greater than 8 times its dry weight. Available in over 10 sizes ranging from 2mm to 30 mm, this style of patties are made for the micro neurosurgeon who requires the smallest sizes for micro key-hole surgery.

“It has a huge advantage that it has no-stick properties, so it doesn’t adhere to the brain and it’s very low profile, so it doesn’t obstruct the surgeon’s line of sight.”
“We all started off using the traditional patties. Because we were using the traditional patties we had certain ways we were opening. However, because of the small size of the Delicot, it allows me to modify that so I can make smaller openings in critical portions.”
“The tapered patties allow dynamic retraction under the shaft of the suction without the obstructive buckling of the edges of the traditional thick square-shaped patties. The combination of unparalleled flexibility, thinness and tapered shape of this class of patties provides the surgeon with great advantages to work within small operative spaces seamlessly.”
“Delicot are the best sponges I have been able to find for microsurgery. They are thin. They are strong. They don’t shed. They add good protection to the brain without adding extra bulk. They come in multiple sizes which is also very helpful.”
“I use Delicot patties to separate normal brain tissue from a tumor. They help me form a circumferential boundary while I dissect, so I know where I’ve been and do not have to do all the work again when I come back to the same spot, but need to go deeper. They also provide a mild degree of hemostasis while keeping the operative cavity small. This means a smaller incision, exposure site, and more importantly less retraction on normal brain tissue.”
“I have been using Delicot sponges for almost twenty years now. There is no doubt in my practice that the soft consistency and pliability of these sponges has fundamentally shaped the way that I do surgery. Protection of neural and vascular structures just cannot be done as effectively or safely when using thicker, stiffer sponges. Therefore, I have come to rely on Delicot sponges as a critical element to intracranial surgery and spinal cord microsurgery.”
