Delicot® ultra-thin neurosurgical patties are the only product that was made for delicate microsurgical procedures with a 0.33 mm profile allowing for precise positioning, molding, and superior pliability for instrument support and tissue protection. Delicot® demonstrates the best filterability of fluids via suction and is capable of absorbing greater than 8 times its dry weight. It was developed in partnership with Dr. Takanori Fukushima to allow him to perform his revolutionary techniques that could not be done with traditional patties.

Delicot patties are superior to the standard patties because they are thinner, more pliable, and most importantly do not stick to the brain.
I use them to separate normal brain tissue from a tumor. They help me form a circumferential boundary while I dissect, so I know where I’ve been and do not have to do all the work again when I come back to the same spot, but need to go deeper. They also provide a mild degree of hemostasis while keeping the operative cavity small. This means a smaller incision, exposure site, and more importantly less retraction on normal brain tissue.”
Using standard patties is too thick, and when you pull them off, they stick, bleed, and you have to obtain hemostasis again. In delicate and eloquent areas, for example, during a sylvan fissure dissection, anything that sticks can lead to a potential MCA branch hemorrhage. Getting hemostasis of this may mean sacrificing the artery, which can lead to a stroke. Without the protection of these patties, you can more easily get more bleeding.
